Kauai Police Department Records

The Records Section at (808) 241-1661 takes requests for Kauai County busted mugshots and other police files. You can submit a request online through the Records Request portal, which the county set up for non-businesses. The portal walks you through the case detail and lets you track status. Processing runs within 10 business days under Hawaii law. Fees are $0.25 per page for photocopies. Higher fees apply for certified copies or long searches.

KPD publishes an Arrest Log for recent bookings. It shows name, age, town of residence, date and time of arrest, location, charges, and bail. Fifth Circuit Court on Kauai

The Fifth Circuit Court handles every Kauai County busted mugshots case after arrest. The courthouse is at 3970 Kaana Street, Lihue, HI 96766, phone (808) 482-2300. The Fifth Circuit covers Kauai and Niihau. It has Circuit Court for felonies and civil cases over $40,000, District Court for misdemeanors and small claims under $40,000, and Family Court for juvenile and family cases.

Case files are on eCourt Kokua. Download costs are $3 for 1 to 30 pages and $0.10 per page past that. The portal shows charges, hearing dates, case status, and dispositions. Kauai Community Correctional Center

The Kauai Community Correctional Center (KCCC) holds pre-trial detainees and sentenced misdemeanants from Kauai County. The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation runs KCCC. Intakes come in through KPD via the Cell Block on Kaana Street. Book-in steps are a medical screen, fingerprints, a booking photo, and a classification review.

DCR's online inmate search shows name, booking number, custody status, charges, and a projected release date. Sentenced state inmates may move to Halawa on Oahu or to a mainland contract prison. That is why the facility field on a record may show a different site over time.

The Kauai County Prosecuting Attorney reviews arrests by KPD and files charges in the Fifth Circuit Court. The office is in Lihue and works with the Kauai Police Department and the courts.
