Hawaii County runs on nine police districts: South Hilo, North Hilo, Hamakua, North Kohala, South Kohala, North Kona, South Kona, Ka'u, and Puna. Each district has its own patrol team, but all bookings for Hawaii County busted mugshots feed back to the Hilo HQ or the Kona sub-station. The HPD site posts booking logs with name, date, charge, and bail info. These logs update often and give a fresh view of local arrest activity.
The Kona Police Station at 74-5221 Queen Kaahumanu Highway in Kailua-Kona works as a Public Access Site for HCJDC. That means you can walk in, pay $25, and get a state conviction record printout without going to Honolulu. The East Hilo HQ is also a Public Access Site. Both let you save a flight to Oahu for a simple records check.
HPD launched its current web site, hawaiipolice.gov, on November 12, 2024. All staff emails moved from the @hawaiicounty.gov domain to @hawaiipolice.gov on the same date. For tips, Crime Stoppers is at (808) 961-8300. The Vice and Drug tip lines are (808) 934-8423 for East Hawaii and (808) 329-0423 for West Hawaii. For info on a currently-in-custody adult, call the automated line at (808) 961-2213.

Search fields on eCourt Kokua are party name, case number, and attorney name. Hits show charges, hearing dates, status, and dispositions. Sealed files and confidential matters do not show. For a certified paper copy, contact the Hilo or Kona clerk. A public access terminal at the courthouse lets you view the record on screen free of charge.
Juvenile records on the Big Island are confidential. Access is limited to parties, attorneys, and set agencies. For questions, call the Family Court clerk in Hilo.
Hawaii Community Correctional Center
The Hawaii Community Correctional Center (HCCC) is the main jail for Hawaii County busted mugshots. It is at 60 Punahele Street, Hilo, HI 96720, and can be reached at (808) 933-0431. HCCC takes pre-trial detainees and sentenced misdemeanants from the full Big Island. It works with HPD and the Third Circuit Court for intake and court trips. Records are kept by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Book-in at HCCC includes fingerprints, a booking photo, a medical screen, and a classification review. Data goes to the state HCJDC file on the same day. The DCR online inmate search shows custody status, charges, booking number, and a projected release date. Sentenced inmates may move to Halawa on Oahu or to a mainland contract prison. That is why a hit on the DCR search may show a facility off-island.
HCCC runs a satellite site, Hale Nani, for reentry and work-release programs. Visit rules come from DCR policy and need advance sign-up. Phone service runs through Global Tel Link. Calls may be recorded for security. For visit or phone questions, call HCCC direct.
